Estimated Cost of Attendance
Your estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) is made of "direct costs" (what you'll see on your UTSA bill) and "indirect costs" (other expenses you can anticipate while attending college). Direct Costs for all students include tuition and fees. If you live on campus, your direct costs will also include housing and meals. The COA sets the maximum amount of financial aid we can award you.

The following estimate is based on the 2024-25 academic year (two semesters).

STUDENT LOANS
Student loans are not based on credit and are guaranteed by the government. These loans will have to be repaid.

Please visit studentloans.gov to learn more about Federal Loans.

WORK-STUDY ELIGIBILITY
Work study is an employment opportunity program for students where money is paid in the form of a paycheck for hours worked. Students must find and apply for a work study job through the University Career Center's job bank called Handshake. If not interested in work study, then other options can be explored to cover remaining costs.

Please visit studentaid.ed.gov to learn more about Federal Work-Study.

ADDITIONAL AID TO COVER REMAINING COSTS
Remaining Costs can either be paid out of pocket or through other options such as:

Parent PLUS Loan: a credit-based loan parents can take out of undergraduate dependents students. Parents must submit a credit check and application at studentloans.gov.

Alternative Loans: educational loans that are available through private lending institutions. Loan terms vary by lender.
